MEDEA SCHOLARSHIP
Maine Driver Education Association
PURPOSE: Two (2) $500.00 Scholarships minimum to encourage and assist young people of Maine to start post High School Education in any field; vocational, technical or academic. One (1) Scholarship for any resident of Maine and One (1) Scholarship for a MEDEA Member's family only.
AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP: $500.00 Minimum
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. One scholarship for a First-Year (Freshman) Full time student.
2. A second scholarship for any MEDEA family member entering any academic year.
3. Be a resident of Maine at the time of application.
4. Be accepted at an accredited school, college or other training program.
5. A 300 word Essay: At any age peer pressure causes many people to do things they would not normally do, speed, drive reckless and take unnecessary chances. With all the peer pressure you have had to handle. What advice would you give to other drivers to help them fight peer pressure?
6. Must have been instructed in Driver Education by an Instructor that is a member of MEDEA. (Signature and printed name of instructor is required. Driver Education School may not sign for MEDEA instructor.)
6. Photo copy of Driver Education Course Completion Card.
7. Have a clean driving record. (No traffic violation.)
DEADLINE: Postmarked by April 15, 2008
PAYMENT: A minimum $500.00 Award will be announced by the MEDEA Scholarship Committee at the MEDEA State Conference in May. Announcements will also appear in via newspapers, MEDEA Newsletter and Students High School Graduation Exercises. Payment will be made directly to the applicant after they have been enrolled in post secondary education school. The Scholarship Committee Judges Decision is final.

Scholarship Questions:
2007 The State of Maine requires parental involvement--30 minute car ride, two hours in
the classroom, or a one hour documented video review. Discuss ways to change or
improve parental involvement.

2006 Drivers today show good and bad attitudes. Give an example of each, then discuss
alternative behaviors that could be adopted to change the bad attitudes.
